Week 6

No pancakes this week :(

Hello Gamesoc,

Midterms are starting to creep into view so we know a lot of you are under immense pressure with assignments, exams etc. Hopefully you can still take some time out of your busy schedules for some gaming relaxation. So where can you get your gaming fix you ask? Well that's what I'm hear to tell you.

Sci-fi host zombie week

A special mention this week from our friends in Sci-fi. UCD is on the verge of a pandemic zombie infestation throughout this week and they need your help to fight of this oncoming undead horde. Much like our assassins games, players will recieve information by email and set the task of killing the zombies or eating brains depending on which side they choose. For more information on this event please contact sfsoc.webmaster@gmail.com

Culture Shock

This week Newstalk are doing a cultureshock piece on gaming, the adult gaming industry and the effects of gaming for social development. It sounds to be a very interesting show and I'd suggest you all check it out. I think it should be available online after it broadcasts live this Thursday so if you miss it you can catch it anytime you have free.

A very twisted tale

A big congratulations to SUAS on their recent record for the world's largest game of twister. We thoroughly enjoyed the event and I'd like to thank all the Gamesoc members who went out of their way to support their cause. Pictures will soon be up on our website.

Gamesoc Apparel

Late last year we promised you hoodies & T-shirts, this year we're going to hopefully make those promises reality. We will be taking names of people who are interested in these items for the next two weeks. If we get enough to warrant the order we'll go ahead with it.

The two items of clothing you can get put your name down for are:

1) A Black T-shirt with white writing: Gamesoc logo on the front. Quote on the back. ~ €10-15

2) A Blue/Grey Hoody with the logo on the chest like the committee ones. ~ €25-30

More details will be available by next week. We'd like to have the total order by the end of next week so we can have them for you when you come back from Mid-term.

Competition

So what quote is on the back of the T-shirt? Well that's this week's competition. Come up with something for us to put on the back of our T-shirt. Send your entry to ucdgamesoc@gmail.com. The committee will decide on a winner and that person will win a free copy of the Gamesoc T-shirt !!! (assuming the order goes ahead).

Misquote of the week:
"Gaming is genius dressed in its working clothes."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson.
